2026 Flora & Fauna
The inclusion of plant and animal illustrations in the Earth Dance calendar is multi-faceted. First, it’s an attempt to honor these beings—after all they are our elders on this earth and I am grateful to have some company on this crazy (and wonderful) rock hurtling through space!
It’s also about creating symbolic reminders for myself and an invitation to you. The reminders are about specific intentions I have for the year, like reading a book about Hawthorn (Winter 2026) or harvesting, eating, and weaving with Cattail (Spring 2026). The invitation to you, could be the same, or it could be as simple as learning one new thing about each season’s plant and animal. Maybe you learn about the 13 distinct gates of Pronghorn, or try Rose Hip tea for the first time.
I believe it’s these small acts of connection that will reweave the fabric of our existence, reminding us that we are not separate or alone. We are truly all in this together. All experiencing life under that same sun, moon and stars.
2026 Flora & Fauna:
Winter: Hawthorn & Mountain Lion
Spring: Cattail & Mallard
Summer: Yarrow & Pronghorn
Autumn: Rose (Hips) & Raven
In an effort to further this honoring, I’ve committed to writing seasonally about these plants and animals. Each season I’ll share some of my intentions for deepening my relationship with these beings, what I’m learning, how they relate to seasonal patterns I observe, and whatever else I feel inspired to share.
